Hey guys just wanted to introduce myself new to the site. I’m taking the plunge and planning a OTC elk hunt with archery equipment next year in Montana and I’m thinking this site might help me make some decisions .

Montana doesn’t have OTC, they have a general season tag though that is a draw only for non-residents. Best of luck to you, it’s very addicting, enjoyable and difficult.

To best help yourself out, don't say things like "not looking for anyone's honeyhole, but..."
or "anyone have any experience in unit X, any information would be helpful".

Most people are willing to help you learn the ways on here. Just be willing to put in the work and the rewards of knowledge will be extremely helpful. I've learned a lot from this place, every year gets better.

Welcome. My advice is utilize the search button, and read. Read a lot. 3 years ago I was as green as they come and even perhaps backwards a bit. This site is absolutely invaluable for researching hunting tips, gear, and making sure your bank account stays near zero!
