I have those on my Rem 700 Mountain rifle and all my other rifles. Weight really wasn't an issue for me. Just like the one piece design! I have them on a 243, 308, and 2-30 06's.

I have the one-piece Talley alloy/lightweight rings on several rifles...one is a 700. They are my first choice these days. My personal preference is to get the lowest mount that will work with the scope I'm using for that rifle, which it sounds like you are also trying to do. A couple times I've called them when ordering to talk about sizing with the rifle/scope combination I'm doing just to be sure, and I've always found them to be really helpful and accurate....

EDIT: I misread your op....was still on my first cup of coffee when I first read it. Sorry about that! I always go with the alloy/ultralights, and never any problems for me with those. That said, I install a good scope, and then it's there for the duration. I don't do a lot changing-out scopes over time.

Both look solid, just worried about recoil and keeping zero.

My experience with the Talley alloys has been that they are solid and hold zero without problems. If it's any help, I have them mounted on 7mm-08, 257WBY, 30-06, 338-06, and 375H&H.

Why you’re looking at optic mounts to cut weight is beyond me. That’s where I’d be going with durability/solidity at all costs; especially for a few ounces. There are numerous threads out there where Talleys have cracked; though many use them without issue. I’d be going steel, and Leupold or Burris dual dovetails at a minimum. Picatinny being the most secure/repeatable. Cut weight elsewhere. Your entire hunt relies on the fortitude/security of your optic and it’s only as good as what’s securing it to your rifle.

I never said i was trying to cut weight.I asked about the two and reliability and with one being lighter If there both just as reliable why wouldn’t i go with the lighter one.I have no issue going with either, just asking because there highly recommend.
Thanks

The $64 question is “why” are Talley recommended, say over Leupold? How many answers relate to weight, rather than quality?
