Getting closer to the Texas Train to Hunt and seeing how many Rokslide folks are planning on being there. This will be my 1st time to attempt one, since it usually conflicts with either the MS150 or Total Archery Challenge and that has prevented me from participating.

How is everyone's training going?

What exactly is this? A 3D shoot mixed with spartan race sorta deal? I haven’t heard of it before.

Kind of like that. To put it simply, it's a 2 day archery fitness competition. Day 1 will be the fitness portion (Challenge Course) and day 2 is what we call the Hunter's 3-D course. Both days you will be shooting your bow, but only on day 1 will you be exercising and shooting with an elevated heart rate. The Hunters 3-D course is a 20 target course that has scenarios at each target. For example, you will have to shoot from kneeling position, draw from your knees, stand, move right or left and shoot, draw and shoot in 5 seconds, 12 second follow up shot, etc. People typically really enjoy these events, lots of camaraderie. Train to Hunt has been putting on archery fitness competitions since 2011

Click on the link and look around the website or go to our Youtube channel to see some videos. Hope to see you at one of our events.

Thanks,

Ryan

I’ve done it the past two years, but I’m not a fan of the two day format this year so I’m planning to sit this one out. Not sure why they changed it? It’s a great event, but I can’t give up the entire weekend for it.

Sounds like a good time. If it’s held down here again next year I’ll need to check it out.

I’m with you. Last year was my first time to attend since it was converted to a single day event. I’ve had this on my calendar for a few months and even scheduled to fly home from a business trip a day early to make it, but I can’t justify the whole weekend. If I was local I’d probably try to swing it, but driving up from Houston I have to leave Friday afternoon and not return until Sunday evening.

I really enjoy the event and encourage any guys in the Dallas area to attend.

Yep, same with me coming from Houston area. Maybe Kenton out to do something with the downtime to make it a bigger event? Like have some big time archery guys put on some clinics on shooting? Bring in fitness experts to teach about nutrition or exercise, or calling experts to work with guys on their bugling? If you are stuck there for a two day event that can obviously be done in one day, then I would consider it if there was more benefit for the time invested.

Had a good turn out due to the circumstances. First week of summer for most kids so attendance was a little low but all in all a good weekend. Hoping to do it next year back in April. If all goes to plan it will be after spring break but before easter so maybe last weekend of March first of April. Will keep all posted.

Thank you again to all that came out and participated this year. Hopefully we will see you all again in the spring of 2020. Also keep an eye out on an indoor tournament brought to you by TTH in the winter.

I'm with you. The two day deal is fun, but the logistics are more difficult. It's never fallen on a good weekend for me. Last year, we just made a family trip out of it (and me taking one day out for TTH wasn't a big deal). This year, I just couldn't swing it, especially with it being two days and coming from San Antonio area. Hopefully next year
