The cost of not going Elk hunting this year?

I can’t imagine paying nonresident fees to hunt elk. I’d invest that money and hunt with a camera for free. Even as a resident I don’t bow hunt elk every year. Just too much demand for the units I’m willing to hunt. The in between years I rifle hunt isn’t worth paying much money for. Hell I wouldn’t hunt if I couldn’t draw a tag an hour from home.
