The perfect tripod

It’s all a trade-off ie weight vs stability.

In my experience, with hinting weights rifles (ie 10 lbs and under) something like a 14L or lightweight feisol is kind of the sweet spot. If you have time to set up your tripod etc, then you have time for a seated or kneeling shot. Like the poster above said, standing shots with a 14L is not ideal….doable, but require more experience/practice/technique. Still, inside 600 yds is not that bad.

Now, prs style shooting, then big boy tripods are required.

I see what your saying
Sucks that it’s so hard to find them in stock.
So if I am understanding this correctly, if I were to pick one, the 24L is the one. I’ve never shot off a tripod so i am open to all suggestions. Again I’ll be glassing with 10x42, 15x56 binos and shooting my rifle off it.

If I could only have one honestly I’d probably want the 24, or a 34.

Reason being is learning to shoot off the things can be challenging with the 14. This decision is placing an emphasis on shooting. If a long range shot off the tripod is an option you want, I’d carry the weight of the 24. I shoot off mine a lot for matches, and varmint hunting. Big game I’m still searching for a prone shot but have taken deer off my tripod.

If I were a backpack hunter without an emphasis on shooting, where I might occasionally shoot off if seated or kneeling, I’d go with the 14. (This used to be me)

It’s hard to explain till you shoot off them. That said even the 14 makes anything else in its weight class feel like a noodle.

As lamboi knows from messages I have had with him I still fight with myself on getting the 14. I have the 34 and have carried it on a dall hunt. Do I give up a fair bit of stability to save 1.4ish pounds? Yes the 14 packs smaller also, but the 34 fits nice on the side of my pack. I have of course always try to get as low as possible for shot(I will link dall that I was prone, there is the moose video on next page of videos) I thought moose was going to be shot standing so had legs extended running through crap, shot different moose seated, to be quick just spread legs wide. Have shot pronghorn and grizz standing, both pretty close.
I still want to try a 14 to see if the $, weight, size is worth it. But probably will be carrying the 34 on stone sheep hunt in 54 days.

Point of this is just really about the trade offs and each of us deciding what is worth it. I sure can't make my own mind up

More than I want to spend but I understand the perspectives given.
Stability is key and if it comes with a price, so be it. I might do a RRS 24. Little bit lighter. Im definitely convinced on the anvil head. The tripod is still the tough part

If it’s tall enough for you, and the collapsed height isn’t too long for how you carry it - the 33 is a really good option. It’s stiffer than the 24L and weighs the same. 3 leg sections = easier/faster to deploy + stiffer than 4 legs. I’m 5’-9 and it’s tall enough for me.

Thermo optics is legit.
I am only 5'7" I went 34 just for the slightly shorter collapsed length versus 33.

Only tripod I've used over the last 5 years. Use it for glassing, shooting, walking sticks (removable legs) and most importantly use it for skinning and quartering as it's designed with a pulley system in the head.

I ended up with the 33 as well. Perfect mix of stability and packability at just the right height.

I hunt with a kifaru duplex frame and EMR2 bag. It carries my RRS TVC-34L/BH-55LR and Swarovski STS 20-60x65 inside the pockets/sleeves. Or I strap it to the outside.
