Dad shot an elk in the early 2000s with a 3006 Corelokt. Complete core separation. It did the trick but learned a lot from that moment.

Maine moose last year with 30-06 Partitions 180gr (Federal loading) 100 yard shot.
We shot it 5 times because it stood there and in Maine you're allowed two shooters and we didn't want it to get into the thick stuff.

Perfect expansion to the cross-section. We recovered 2 of the 5 shots and all looked like this. Some broke through shoulder. 3 passed through. Really impressed with the strength of the Partition even though my groups are only so-so

Great thread! I have been lucky. I have recovered a few 150 grain corelokts out of my 30-06.

Once I got into western hunting, I switched to 165 grain accubonds. I did shoot 165 grain ballistic tips for a short bit.

First 2 photos are the ballistic tips. 90 yard shot at an antelope. Bad shot on my part, slowly walking and quartering. Recovered in the ham. Second photo was my Pennsylvania whitetail. 40 yard shot and double lung. Jacket left behind. Core--who knows?

I unfortunately could not find the 228 yard spine shot of my mule deer though it looked closest the last picture. The last pick is my 358 yard broadside double lung hit of my 5x5 elk.

7mm 150gr Nosler ballistic tip
280 Rem with a 26" tube
Muzzle velocity at 3150 fps with a stout load of RL26.

This bullet came out of an Aoudad ewe that was shot at about 8 yards. I was really surprised to see how well the bullet held together at such a high impact velocity.
Yes, this was the standard Nosler ballistic tip and not the Accubond.

300 grain TSX that again weighs 300 grains after I dug the meat chunks out of it. The bullet stopped just under the skin of the offside front shoulder, almost into the neck, of a 62” bull i shot from about 50 yards with a Kimber Talkeetna as he was whirling away. I had just put one straight through the boiler that was a pass-through and this second shot anchored him right there. I had to jump up from my chair at the campfire and run into the tent to grab the rifle, needless to say but it was a very short pack to get him out! It’s the bull in my profile pic.

A little slower MV being a factory tikka t3 lite (24.somthing" barrel). 111.8 gr final weight. 20210624_085907.jpg

Just looked through this entire thread. I like what I’m seeing from the barnes bullets.
And the surprise of the thread was the federal fusion. Could hardly draw up a better image of a mushroom

I was surprised at the perfect mushrooms of the 2 Sierra bullets......for non-bonded cup and core bullets they did quite well. Hornady Interloks are pretty darn good for cup and core as well. Im partial to the Accubonds for most anything and Ballistic Silvertips for deer.

139gr Hornady GMX out of my Tikka T3 7mm Rem Mag.

Shot a good sized WT buck at 15yds. Went through the front shoulder and I found it in the hide on the off-side. Took both lungs out. Deer ran 20yds and piled up on a cutline I could drive my truck up to.

I can’t remember what the bullet weighs.

ya i was sitting on a cutline that was flat, then dropped 10-15ft then was flat again, i was facing north watching the one flat side, grunting and when i turned to look south i saw him working his way up the cutline. He started to mill around side to side and went in the bush. I was 40yds off the rise so i belly crawled up to a sign i could rest my rifle on and get a better look down the cutline since I couldnt see half of it. I got to the sign and couldnt see him, i looked down to grab my grunt tube and when i looked up again he was standing there 15yds away staring at me. With one hand on my rifle i just pointed it at him and lined it up by eye and fired. Didnt even use the scope haha.
