My wife mentioned this today and I admit I probably looked at her cross-eyed.

What’s the backstory, anyone have any idea?

This isn't new. Bovine TB has been around for hundreds of years, but in the USA it is relatively uncommon due to eradication efforts. It pops up in feed lots and confining areas every few years.

MN, MI and IN are the states where deer have had it, but it isn't common.

If you really want to know, this covers it pretty well: https://www.purdue.edu/fnr/extensio...er may, contact multiple domestic cattle herds.

So, you look for the little white hanky. If a deer has a little blood spotted hanky and it keeps coughing, don't shoot that one.
