This old double

I'm not really sure what I have here, but I do know it's a high quality shot gun. I acquired it about ten years ago and did some research of my own and what I do know is it was made by a German maker for Sloans Sporting Goods of NY city in the 20's. Somewhere in it's life it unfortunately had a recoil pad installed.
Can anyone point me in a direction to value this gun or where I might sell it?

Unless you're DYING for money, you are best to hold it for a bit. The double market was soft a few months ago and certainly mush right now.

The guys on 24hr campfire are savvy on doubles.....but I've seen guys trying to give some stuff away and getting no bites.

You might get some good trade offers.

Isn't it strange how Americans will degrade a $10K work of art with a $10 Pad??? It looks like it is cut short to boot! What's the LOP?
This is a prewar F.W. Heym!!! Should fetch a nice price even with the pad!

How about it. I'll measure lop and post it up. Money isn't an issue it's just that I have zero interest in this kind of thing and my safe is full!

As far as LOP it's 14'' from the front trigger to the back of the pad.
Does anyone have input on the best way to sell it? I won't think about doing it until the world gets back to normal, but then I'd like to move it along.

So after a littke research. The Ny company just imported them. They were still manufactured in Germany! Just saw one with engravings similar to your. Your actions looks cleaner and more crisp. However your stock is a little more worn.. I think you should be able to get around $3000 for it.

It's kind of funny I have zero interest in this Heym but this beat up 16 I got at the same time I'm keeping. I do have an attraction to old hunting guns that have that well used look.

12 ga? Proof marks under the chambers on the barrel flats? That area will probably show the metric choke constrictions too. 2-3/4" chambers (70mm)? Barrel length? How much drop at heel and comb of stock? Cast-off on stock? how much? Those are all things a prospective buyer would want to know. What do the barrels and rib plus forend look like?

Good luck selling it, nice old shotgun!

Thanks again for the help. I've reached out to that link above as well as a connection from a member here.
We'll see.
