Going to put a Micro B Gen 2 on my Tikka T3x 300 Win Mag. From everything I've read and speaking to a few smiths, it appears my only options are a 1/2 x 28 or a 9/16 x 24 since the Tikka barrel is only .620 at the muzzle.
I don't believe the 1/2 x 28 will leave enough barrel meat around the bore (.5 - .308 = 0.192) as most manufacturers recommend at least .200 of remaining meat.
I'm leaning towards the 9/16 x 24 (.5625) since it leaves about 0.2545 of remaining meat outside the bore. My only concern is that it only leaves 0.0575 at the shoulder and not sure if that is enough.
Looking for suggestions from others who have threaded their .30 cal Tikka's.
