That is a great looking rifle for something you "threw together" over a weekend. I would like to see what you build when you are taking your time!

Got out and shot for the first time today. No chrono, just loaded up 2 rounds of 86 grains all the way up to 89.5 grains in 1/2 grain increments to see where I hit pressure. Not a lot of load data out there for this caliber so I found a reference to 3.460 COAL and loaded them all up to that depth.

First two rounds were to get a rough zero and then held same point of aim for the rest.

First picture is of the entire group. Barrel started getting consistent after about 6 rounds which is normal for a new barrel.

Second picture is of the last five shots at 87.5, 88, 88, 88.5, 88.5 charge weights. This is without tuning seating depth... needless to say this gun is going to be stupid accurate! Will start tuning seating depth and wouldn't be surprised if this turns into a 1/4 MOA gun. Started a new group for the 89/89.5 charge weights and hit pressure but with a called flier it was still 3/4 MOA.

This may just be my new favorite gun... ;)

Here's a video to show you recoil... this is my buddy Zane shooting the 300 Norma on one of the hotter loads. Recoil is just a solid push, not very snappy at all. Rifle with scope on it weighs right at 11.25 lbs. If put in one of the new manner's stocks you'd be looking at 10 lbs even.

Did a little load testing today. Best three shot group.... I think load development is done! She really needs cleaned at this point. 30 rounds down the tube with this much powder is starting to make er fly a bit. Last group was on the left.

Agreed, it's the best way to "aim small miss small"... pretty cheap too ;)

Mike

Yes sir. I actually have a document where I have 6 1 moa squares on a regular sized piece of paper. If I tried to freehand an L it would look more like my 4 year old attempting with her left hand! (;

Haha lots of times I don't even hang fresh paper. Just bring a marker and throw a few "L"'s on somebody else's old target ;)

Not a bad idea. Have you thought of picking up a data book or using a load data book? I use and have some from Impact Databooks and they rock. If you want one let me know and I'll cut ya a deal! ;)

Just chrono'd some loads today. 89 grains of retumbo behind a 215 Berger hybrid = 3150 fps average. Had a few spike at 3198 and 3168 which makes me think I should've recalibrated my scale before loading as I normally do but didn't this time. Will get some more data here shortly in the next few days. Averaging .5 MOA but I still want to tune seating depths a bit and am picking up some RamShot Magnum to try out as it should be a bit quicker.

That gun is going to be an elk killer man! What are your drops with that bullet and speed?
I'm shooting the Ramshot Magnum in my 6.5-06. Seems to be good powder.
