Looking for some help on reloading for a Tikka 300 Win Mag. This will be a dedicated Elk rifle and some long range Mule Deer hunting. Obviously limited by the length of the magazine, I was thinking about running 168 - 180 grain bullet. Any powder and bullet combos you guys might suggest? I have 4831SC and H4350 currently. Don't want to run RL22 because of temperature insensitivity. Any help is appreciated.

I found an accurate load with Nosler 180 accubonds over 73.2 H4831 SC I believe this is over max but i'm not seeing any pressure signs and not crunching powder. Loaded to mag length.

H4831 is a good choice, take a look at the Hammer Bullets. I'd bet one of their lighter bullets would be great for the slow twist in a Tikka and fit in the mag. I've been using them for the last few years and have been thoroughly impressed.

I moved to RL23 a couple of years ago in my .300 Win Mag behind Nosler 200gr AB and Barnes 200gr LRX. Both shoot very well in my rifle.

It’s not one made nowadays I know that. It was the black ones. Been down the road for a few years now.

Going to do a finer ladder test of .2gr each way to see if I can trim the SD & ES a hair more. Hope that helps! Enjoyed seeing other results

if you like to run solid copper bullets, you're gonna be limited to about 180 grain bullets due to the 1:11 twist. Even some of the 180s from CEB and Hammer are too long and require a 1:10. Be aware of that.

I'm running 190 grain Bergers @ 2900 fps in my T3X in 300 Win Mag. Am traveling so do not have additional information. No issues taking it to 1000 yards and it has killed everything that it has touched up to grizzly bear.

Here is a sample of what it can do. First is a 3 shot group @ 100 yards and the next is center punching steel @ 740 yards.

Barnes does have a 1:10 twist recommendation for the 190 LRX but so far they have flown and killed great for me. The furthest I have stretched them to is 650 and seem like they are stabilizing fine. The Barnes 190LRX factory ammunition grouped 1.6” at 200. Only real limiting factor I have found in my rifle is the factory mag length. I can’t find a round that will seat within .250” and still fit in the mag. Seems like a lot of factory rifles with belted cartridges are running that way. At least the few I have messed with. I guess I can’t complain about the mass jump since they all seem to shot at or under moa.

I have found Barnes LRX 175 gr bullets and 70.5 grains of Reloader 22 to be extremely accurate in my Win Mag (Rem ADL action/Hart barrel).

I load to 3.34 length to ensure I don't have loading or chambering issues in the field. I can get 1/2 moa with it, when I do my part and stopped worrying about jamming in or loading off the lands for this particular rifle. Every one is different though.
