Tikka 300 win

Ok Tikka fanatics, i what your thoughts. I was given a tikka in 300 win. I talked my best friend in to buying it for a build and he never did anything with it so he gave it to me for my birthday. i currently has a 300 rum that needs a new barrel, a 300wsm that shoots lights out. So the question is do i keep it as is and do the normal tikka upgrades that you all talk about? Or do i buy a carbon 6 prefit in X caliber? what are your thoughts... my 300 rum was hands down the my favorite 30 cal to shoot and hunt with. PS round count is unknown as it was bought used.

Tikka and the 300 Win aren't a great match. I'd rebarrel to a lighter short magnum that you don't have yet. Something. 25-7mm.

I love my Tikka 300 WM, I just put a brake on it and enjoy it even more now! If I was in your shoes I’d probably be looking to turn it into a 6.5 PRC though being you’ve got a rum and wsm.

I keep kicking around the idea of buying either a Seekins or Christensen Arms in 300 PRC and turning my Tikka into a 6.5 PRC.

Well there in lies another snag, I have a 6.5 Sherman short, 26 nosler, 6.5-300 wby, 7 Sherman max this is still being built, semi custom 28 nosler, 270 wsm, 257 wby, those are the major players any way, 300 prc or something similar would be nice because my rum I was able to push 175 Barnes lrx at 3470 hints the rebarrel lol but I’d love to see a caliber with similar results. Maybe I’m in my own head with the 300 win but the 1-11 twist rate drives me nuts because I like copper bullets. So maybe this will help more. Thanks for the reply’s keep me coming.

Isn't the 300 PRC's COAL almost 3.7"? You're limited to 3.4" in a Tikka, 3.56" (iirc) with the MDT mags.
