I have a plain Jane blued Tikka in .308 topped with a simple Vortex Diamondback, always like the rifle for hunting but I'd like to make it into more of a custom gun. Currently waiting on a Banish so i have some time to build.

I don't know enough about barrels to be dangerous, what taper should I be looking for? I don't believe the stock barrel can be threaded 5/8x24 due to the thin taper. I don't need fluting or carbon, something accurate but not excessively heavy or expensive.

Is Cerakote a worthwhile investment to protect the action and barrel?

I know there's a huge variety of stocks but I'd like something with a more vertical grip than traditional. Mesa Precision Altitude looks like a beautiful stock. Any favorites out there?

Sorry for the ignorance! Thank you!
