Buddy of mine just told me he wants it, so it's SPF. Thanks.
I'm sure I'll regret this, but I'm bored and my Howa Alpine 7mm-08 is getting all the range time these days now that I've found some winning loads and a decent trigger for it.
Here is my stainless Tikka T3 in 7mm-08 up for sale/trade. I did the bolt stop and mag mod to it a few years ago so I could seat 162 ELD-X's out to 2.90" (they are 2.96" to the lands in this chamber) and I could seat 168 VLD's to the lands, and still have them fit in the magazine and cycle correctly, which they all do. 162 ELD-X's over 40g 8208 are 1/2-3/4 MOA in this rifle, tested out to 400 yards on a range in Colorado 2 years ago.
The Weaver K6 (new aluminum made in Japan version) is a perfect match to this rifle and caliber. The crosshair post is 6 MOA below the center cross, which is very useful for a 200 yd. zero and 300 yd. mid-hair hold and 400 yd. top of the post hold. Makes for a great "point and shoot" hunting rig.
This rifle wears the new T3x stock with the steel recoil lug. I painted the stock with a textured gray paint and it has a good grip. Much better than the slick black factory finish.
Total weight as you can see is 6 lbs. 14 oz., scoped and empty mag.
Hate to part with it, because I thought my son would want it, but he wants a .308 in the same rifle and he insists on buying it himself. So this one is collecting dust in the safe now that I have my Howa Alpine shooting the way I want it.
I almost took this rifle to the smith a few times to have it rechambered to .284 Win, or .280AI, which he said he could do either for $300 total. I just don't expect to need anything more than my 7mm-08 Howa for the forseeable future. If you want a great Tikka action to build off, this would be a good one and you could keep the 7mm-08 barrel that's already trued to the action.
This is a great entry level, no-nonsense mountain rifle. It eats 162 ELD-X, 140 TTSX and 139 SST/Interbonds all very, very well. 3/4 MOA is pretty routine.
So tell me what you might have in trade. I'm always interested in good quality lever guns and have been looking to add a Marlin 39A or 1894 in .357, 45LC or .44 Mag to my collection.
Sale price would be $650 shipped to your FFL, scope included. SPF
