How's it shoot? What's the recoil like?

I never did shoot it. i bought it with the intention of maybe building a 7 saum from the action, so it has just sat in the safe. The guy I bought it from said he shoot 1 MOA groups with it with factory Barnes Vortex ammo with the 225 grain ttsx bullets.

Man, I looked for one of these for a long time before I picked one up a few years ago. They quit chambering them in .338 win mag a while ago. I’d have scooped this up in a heartbeat. Recoil is stout, but manageable. You won’t want to shoot 20 rounds off a bench but It’s a fantastic elk rifle IMO.

My uncle had a Howa in 338 win mag and loved it for elk hunting. He never had to track any elk he shot with it. Once for fun, he went antelope hunting with it, needless to say he wasted a bit of meat.

I’ve never been a fan of it, I’d much rather have just plain stainless steel.
