Tikka T3 versus T3X

My local gun shop has a Tikka T3 in .308 for $500 and was thinking about using it as a donor action. What are the upgrades related to the action in the T3X versus what I'd be buying in this T3?

T3x has a little larger ejection port, smooth top rail with some extra holes, steel vs aluminum recoil lug, metal vs plastic bolt shroud

None really matter much imho.

Donor for what cartridge? The smaller ejection port has been an issue for some with the fatter cases like WSMs. If your doing something like 6mm CM with a .308 bolt face I think it's a non issue.

I just sold a gun at a shop that happens to have a T3 in Stainless in 300WSM. I've always wanted a 300WSM Tikka. I want to shoot 185 Jugs or 208 ELDs so twist rate is no issue. 1. Does the T3 accept the same stocks and bottom metal as the T3X? 2. Is the ability to use pre fits the same for...

I had a T3 in a 300 wsm and later it became a 7 Saum. Never had an ejection issue. No functional difference to my T3xs . I actually preferred less holes in the top of the T3

Any reason as to why the T3x has more mounting holes?

$500 plus a new barrel is likely to cost more than buying a new .243 and having it rechambered in 6mm Creedmoor.

I believe it is to work with more base/ring mounting options and spacing ( could be wrong). I typically use rings that clamp to the dovetail like UM and Sportsmatch and you don't really need all of those holes.

its for mounting the tikka pic rail which takes 5 screws and has 2 recoil pins
