I want to put an APA gen 2 little bastard brake on a new 6.5. tx3 lite I just picked up.

It doesn't look like 1/2-28 threads are available on the little bastard that I can find. Is this not doable on the 6.5? Is my only option the micro bastard from apa in those threads?

Thanks

I bought a CVA Jet Blast and a 1/2-28 to 5/8-24 adapter for my T3x superlight in Creed. Goes next week for threading. My smith said no worries at all.

I spoke with APA and decided to go with the Answer Brake. Comes in 1/2-28 and can self time it quick and easy.
Heres a good short little clip.

Patriot valley arms also makes a 1/2-28 self timing brake that has a smaller contour.

What is the approximate cost of adding a brake? All in parts and labor. Just looking for a ballpark.

Bumping up an old thread, my tikkas are going to get cut soon, was told by a thunderbeast recommended shop that they'd cut them 9/16x24. Is that crazy, all above said 1/2x28. Thanks

Depends, if you have a 22" Tikka, your diameter is probably enough to support a 9/16 thread. Most smith's I've talked to will cut that. Thunderbeast recommends 0.662 barrel OD for 9/16x24 threads, however that's to hang a can off of, not a tiny brake.

My plan is to have a can on it, I hate loudeners. Got to wait awhile to get the cans though. Mile High Shooting took all three of my Tikkas and said 9/16 for all of them, two are super lites, one regular lite.
Thanks

If you are putting a can on it, yep 9/16 is your best bet. I did this on a tikka 06'. most can mfg's offer a direct thread option for 9/16, or you can use an adapter if you want.
