Tikka T3X Lite 300 Win Mag - Twist rate

I am a bit confused about my new rifle. Tikka website shows all lite stainless models with a 1:11” twist rate. When I do a search on the the model number: JRTXB331R10 most show a twist rate of 1:10”. The barrel shows:

Really weird. Would really love to know the answer to this. I always thought that their 300 win mag rifles were 1:11 twist as well.

Tikka switched to 10 twists in their 30 cals this year. The descriptions and SKUs might not be up to date. Go by what is inscribed on your barrel.

I have always gone by the barrel markings. Some list twist, some don’t. Hopefully the 180gr will get enough twist to be accurate out of a 24” barrel as that is the only ammo I could find. I am not familiar with the 300 win mag loads.

11 twist is plenty adequate for 180s.

Put a cleaning rod jag and dry patch through it. Measure the length of a full rotation of the cleaning rod.

That's great to hear the 300 win mag is a 10 twist. That's been the main downside to tikka for me. Does anyone know if the 300 wsm rifles are also now 1:10 twist?

Hate to dash someone’s hopes, but see this thread. I think the 1:10 came from a typo on someone’s website because Tilka/Beretta said no when asked. Like other have said, the length of Tikka actions and magazines would limit the use of longer bullets in long magnums anyway.

This is odd, because Tikka changed their web site to show a 1:10 twist for their stainless 300 WM. Used to be 1:11. Some of their other 300 WM models are still listed as 1:11.

They updated the twist to 1:10. That sku is for the updated twist

Its right in the sku: JRTXB331R10.

They did the same thing with their 8 twist 22-250s: JRTXB314R8

My 11” twist shot the 200s just fine. I wouldn’t be too concerned about it.

Sadly, the people that answer the phone may not be kept as up to date as they should. I’m sure the specs they were looking at says 1-11 but they definitely come in 1-10 now.
