I'm trying to decide on what kind of tent/tipi I should go with on my Alaska moose hunt. It's going to be from the 15th to 25th of September. Also trying to decide on floorless vs floored version.
While not "needed", it is really nice to have a woodstove that time of year and a larger floorless shelter would be better suited for this compared to a dome tent. I stopped using floored tents a long time ago with the exception of an Arctic Oven. For me and my style of hunting in Alaska where weight is more of a concern, the pros of a floorless definitely outweigh the cons.
Only 2 moose hunts worth of experience to draw from...one with a floored shelter and the other with my tipi. For what that experience database is worth, I'm taking the tipi again this fall. The stove is a huge perk in my opinion.
Hope this helps.
