Too late to buy points in Colorado?

I have been looking and can’t find the answer, never put in before and don’t really understand how it all works. Is it too late to buy a preference point for elk or mule deer? Or do you only get a point if you put in for a tag and don’t get drawn?

Too late for this year. Application deadline is the first Tuesday in April. You can get a preference point by applying and either selecting a point as your first choice or by selecting a tag as your first choice and failing to draw that tag.

Yeah, you are way too late for the draw. If you are serious about hunting right now, you can buy a landowner tag and still hunt.

No, not this year, was just wondering if I could buy a point for the year, so I would have 1 point next years draw.
