It's a relatively short podcast, but he hits what I think is missing from a lot of folk's training. High volume training is time consuming, but for folks who want to hunt all day, day after day, it's an integral piece of the puzzle.

He talks about folks who make a living doing manual labor, day in and day out, can probably skip this "piece".

40-ish years ago, I made a living toting a chainsaw up and down mountains; when elk season came around we never gave a thought to training- we were getting high volume "training" 5 days a week. We were good to go. Not too many us make a living where we can skip this high volume training.

I've embraced high volume training (along w/ HIIT training, strength training, & aerobic training) for quite some time now. Year round I try to get some long days on my feet, the more I get, the better off I am when it comes time to strap a pack and rifle to my back. Backpacking, ultra marathons, shed hunting, adventure racing, long day hikes, etc- it's all good stuff.
