I don’t have the time and drive I used to I run a pretty small line now. With my dad coming up on retirement and my little guy up and coming I hope to get back into it and take them both on a long line again. We have some great ground here with all of the old logging roads and large beaver swamps. It different than farm trapping but once I got the hang of it the coyotes are just as predictable. I trap a lot of deep snow so majority of my sets are blind sets, it makes for some interesting set options.

I only put out about a dozen sets, my kids loving checking them so I usually get a picture text of what I caught while I am at work. I started trapping when I was 10, one of my older brothers was into it in a very big way and he taught me. I enjoy it just as much as hunting, maybe more.

I normally try to keep 60 sets working which can be hard with the snow, I have had as many as a little over 100 out at a time but a lot of those were gang sets at good pinch points.

My wife tagged along for this check day and had to get a picture of this pig of a female. She was an old dog with almost no teeth but she had one big fat belly. She went 38lbs on the scale, which is a lot for the size of her frame. There was no chance of escape, she was buried in that old long spring.

Anyone going to the NTA convention in Iowa the next 3 days? I'll be there through Saturday afternoon.

If I can figure out how to post pictures on here I’ll show my best catch. I had a victor snap trap stuffed full with one helluva stud field mouse.

As far as I can see trapping is a dying tradition and it's really helped me stay in the woods longer throughout the year as well as aided in a sort of year round scouting. Let's keep the tradition alive and running by sharing our yearly successes! Here are some of my favorite catches from past years. Feel free to share yours and where you were successful!View attachment 269738
We have been hit hard but there are still some good numbers each year in several states
Nevada, Arizona, Utah have some of the highest price bobcat pelts in the US.
The law changes and restrictions have hit us very hard.
