The truck is loaded and we are on our way to hunt 3rd season mule deer! Andrea and I are very excited to explore new country and hopefully see some giant deer.

We should have service for the majority of the hunt and I will be updating this thread regularly.

Stay tuned, I hope to photograph a ton of deer!

Made it to the unit this evening and found fields chocked full of deer. No real rutting activity yet. Also, the drive here was entertaining as we saw around 10 wrecks.

Today was a slow morning. Snowy and windy. Once it lifted I was able to spot a few groups of does but no decent bucks. All of the snow melted and the wind has picked up. I’m hopeful they will start moving here soon.

Optics wise, I’m running a btx/95 and 10x42 slc on a tripod. It’s been a good combination in this pinion terrain.

As far as pack, I’m running Kifaru’s new ultra light bag and frame. Other than scouting, this is only my third hunt with this pack and so far very comfortable.
