Trijicon model differences

I'm trying to better understand the differences between the various lines of Trijicon scopes:

I currently have a Leupold vx3 4-14x40. I've had it for one season and it's killed everything I've shot at, but the clarity is unimpressive and the elevation turret is cheap and has limited range. I also shot my 308 at 500 yds for the first time recently, and while I probably won't go to far beyond that, the 14x doesn't feel like quite enough.

Is there one of these you would prefer over others? And 42, 50 or 56 objective? Thanks.

From my understanding, glass wise, they are all the same, and the different names (i.e. credo/tenmile) are in reference to the magnification capability. I think the credo's top out around 15 and then above that they are "tenmile" nomenclature.

As far as objective, I prefer smaller objectives for better cheek weld and alignment for target acquisition, but the smaller objectives won't gather as much light as the larger. It's whatever suits you and your rifle/stock configuration the best really.

I personally use credo 2.5-15x42 scopes on my hunting rifles.

14x should be plenty of magnification even past 500 yards. I wouldn't think you need to go higher unless you're past 1000 yards

Edit to add- I am ignoring the Huron and ascent line as they are their budget hunting and tactical line of scopes. They might be fine but I can’t personally recommend them like the other 3 lines. The other 3 have all been solid for me

Yeah I forgot about the HX credo. The stupid HX vs non HX delineation which makes no sense. Basically boils down to a different exterior coating and MOA (HX) vs mil but then they have some MOA in the non HX as well.

I asked Trijicon about them and they said the internals are all the same as the Credo, differences are reticles and the outer finish and no illumination.

Yep tenmile comes in some FFP, there is a 2-10x36 ffp credo as well, rest of credo is SFP. Triji is my favorite scope maker currently, excited to try the 2-10 I got as a hunting scope. 36 objective is a tad on the small side but I great scope

I run a Accupoint 2.5-10x56 on one of my R700's because of the simple reticle with amber dot. On the Tenmile I have on my CTR 308, I went 4-24x50 mainly due to the reticle. I originally had a 4-16x50 credo and loved it until I used the illumination. The entire reticle lit up, thus blinding you in real low light situations. The 4-24x50 Tenmile Mil reticle only illuminates the center dot (red) which is very useable. The illumination doesn't get as low as my Schmidt Bender Polat T96, but not many optics do.

Credo’s are battery powered, accupoints have tritium

Really? Huh. It seems like at 14x and 500 yards the center of my reticle is damn near cover the medium steel target. But maybe heat distortion and whatnot would just eat up the advantage of more magnification?

Based on these comments I think the Accupoint line is checking the most of my boxes.

14x is plenty to shoot 1000 yards no problem. I was shooting 550 just the other day at 10x, zero problem. Any more mag than that is not only unnecessary, it’s detrimental for hunting as it shrinks your FOV.

Sounds like you had a parallax or focus issue.

What are acog and sfp?

Acog is a low power optic popular with AR/M4 type rifles.

SFP is second focal plane. I.e: the reticle stays the same size regardless of the magnification power.

Sounds like you had a parallax or focus issue.

I think you're right. The Leopold doesn't have a focus ring unless I'm mistaken. Can one focus the accupoint scopes?
