I am going out on my first archery elk hunt in CO this September, and was wondering does everyone thing I need a tripod for glassing? It seems to be a lot of timber in the area I will be hunting. I will be in Unit 14&15 if that helps. Thanks for any advice.

15 has some open canyons worth glassing. I would use a tripod and a bino adapter but wouldn't run out to buy a spotter.

If you're backpacking in I wouldn't worry about a tripod, if you're camping by your truck you could bring one along. Your first time out it's easy to over pack. Have fun and figure out what you need for future trips.

I guess it depends on how you hunt. During archery elk I don't glass enough to hardly even bring my binos, let alone a tripod.
