Tripod mod for weight reduction and rifle rest

Field Optics carbon fiber weighs 2 lb, 13 oz
Removed bottom 2 sections weight down to 2 lbs, 1.4 oz
Pan head weighs 1 lb
Ball head weighs 9.5 oz

Removed center post and replaced with a Vanguard center post with integral mini pan head. The vanguard is center post fits perfectly inside a 3/4 in PVC pipe that has an outside diameter of 1. 15 in. The original center post has an outside diameter of 1 in. Used a slack belt sander to reduce the PVC diameter to 1 in.
I then insert the Vanguard centerpost into the PVC and pinned it.
Then took a 4x4 metal bracket, cut in down to shape and covered with foam and duct tape for a rifle rest. I then glued and screwed on a mounting plate.
now I have a tripod that I can use with a spotting scope and quickly detach to turn it into a rifle rest.
