I'll second a SLIK tripod, but I'd opt for the new CF 522. It weighs roughly the same as the 624, but is 10 inches taller and has awesome rubber grip material on the upper portion of the tripod for cold weather use. Its my new go-to favorite and I've owned two different Outdoorsmans models as well as the SLIK 635.
Head wise I'd go with an Outdoorsmans as well. The Micro pan is nice, but my preference is for their full size pan head as its easier to get the right tension while glassing or the pistol grip. You can't really go wrong with any of them.
