Ahhhhhh. Makes sense. I gotta figure out what tent I'm getting for late October MT this year. I've never seen anyone around here use a floorless tent but I could see why if you needed to bring a wood stove (which sounds like a nice way to keep warm in the mountains).

We each carry a 6X8 sheet with our kill kit. It gives us a clean place to organize meat while packing, and provides an emergency shelter if needed.

If anyone in Northern Colorado bear Ft Collins needs some, shoot me a pm. I bought a roll last year and it’s more than a lifetime supply for me. I’d be happy to trade a sheet or two for a cold beer.

I know guys use this stuff for footprints is it just because it costs less? And does it work out to be lighter too?

Light, cheap, compact. And you don’t feel too bad when you set your jetboil on it and burn a circle out of it. (Ask me how I know)

Anybody know what a 3’x8’ section of tyvek weighs? I’ve got almost a full roll of Titanium felt paper left from my roof a few years ago. This stuff is tyvek on steroids. I’ll start cutting 8’ sections for $10!

6 sheets left. A 3×8 weights about 10oz I think with the envelope I send it in. Packs down to about 3x6x2" if you get it tight

Cant get on here often. Send PMs and I'll get back to you
