US Canada Border close to re-opening?!

I'm reading over the last few days that this may actually happen particularly for those that have been vaccinated. I had a Dall Sheep hunt planned in the Yukon for 2020 that was moved to August of this year 2021. It's been completely touch and go thus far. Any of the Canadians on this board feel that the Americans might be able to hunt this year up there?

I’m in the same boat as you and am hoping they will open the border soon. Although I don’t have much faith that they will as the Canadian government has messed this situation up so badly I don’t see them following science at this point in time. Hope I’m wrong though.

We missed our annual fly-in fishing last year and are scheduled for this August this year. But I'm not very optimistic about them reopening. All the stories and comments on those stories from north of the border don't sound very good. Hopefully, but I'm guessing the government is going to hold off until fall or later.

It is so sad for the western 2/3 of the country. Absolutely killing the hunting and fishing outfitters.

We can only hope. As a Canadian it is disheartening see our vaccination effort lag so far behind the American plan.

I spend a lot of time in the Adirondacks of NY
and the Whites of NH - really missed those trips the last 1.5 years.

I have heard from friends in the Yukon that the territorial government is working hard to help tourism operators with re-opening plans - hopefully not just for Canadian residents

Unfortunately the international border opening is dependent on Ottawa making that call and they seem to feel anything outside of the Ontario/Quebec border is nothing but mist and dragons and not worthy of any real attention. YT currently has a 65% fully vaccinated rate, and probably Alaska should be in our "travel bubble".

Actually Canada has surpassed the US in first doses per capita.

You hunt on Public land, have a CPP, use the healthcare system, use public schools, have access to emergency services, have a military protecting you....... KBC you're a socialists. Canada is a democratic socialist country, just like the rest of the modern world
