Was lucky to draw an archery deer tag on the Vernon limited entry unit here in Utah.

have spent a couple weekends out there looking around and learning the area (new to me) but I am willing to take all the extra help I can get!

Spent the day out there today and saw a lot of deer (70+) and several pretty nice bucks. Tough country to stalk them in as it’s super dry and steep with little to no cover.

This little buck stood off the side of the road less then 30 yards as I went by.

Wish I had a phone scope as I was able to watch a group of 9 bucks feed across a hillside. Why they were not giants, 3 of them were pretty nice bucks. 26-28” high and pretty heavy. Funny thing is they all had great fronts but looked crabey on the backend.

I will be spending a lot of time out there in the next month leading into the hunt so I will keep this updated.

Any and all tips are appreciated and would never be shared!

Have spent almost two weeks out hunting. Missed a nice buck (175ish) opening day on longer shot.

Came close on a buck of a lifetime but as often happens with those cagey older bucks things fell apart right before I got an opportunity.

Still at it. If I can’t make it happen on a nice buck this next few days I will try to take my 5 year old son out with me and let him be part of the final couple days and will try to kill a medium buck with him there with me.

It’s been a riot and butt kicker both!

hot and dry!

here are a few of the type of Bucks that you can expect to see daily on this unit.....

I think the dry spring/summer has alot of bucks weak on the back end. It looks like you're all over some good bucks, only a matter of time before you turn over one of those Utah LE monarchs. Best of luck!!
