Looks like my son was able to draw a youth general bull tag. Yes this going to be one of those post asking for help or suggestions. I know this is not always popular to do so any PM's or emails [email protected] would be appreciated. I already know that this is not a slam dunk hunt and we will have to put work in, which starts today. We are looking for an adventure with the opportunity at a bull which I believe should be possible. He is an accomplished hunter already and I have no worries about him being able to hunt as hard as needed. He has already taken 3 bucks in 3 years and hunting is more or less his life. He has given up playing certain sports because they might mess up our hunting plans.
He truly impresses me with his passion for hunting and the type of kid he is (4.0 student since he started school). He was pretty excited last night when I told him we had a hit on the CC. He had a lot of questions that hopefully we will be able to answer in the next couple months.
My goal right now is to do a lot of reading, reach out to you guys, narrow 2-3 main units we want to try, spend two scouting trips out there, spend the entire season building memories and hopefully coming home with a bull.
This more than likely will turn into a Grandpa, dad, son hunting experience.
I am not someone to just ask for help and never report back also. I don't post often but will give a full report of this hunting trip

Thanks

Congrats to your son! It is a very small world. My 13 year old son drew the tag this year and we’re also from Kern County. Same situation. He’s an avid hunter and took a California blacktail and a dandy general season Utah buck last year. Unfortunately the only Utah country I know is LE elk.
My son and I are headed there July to scout a couple locations.
Good luck to your boy.
