I have quite a bit of Varget on hand. I haven’t loaded .243 in several years, but I am getting back into shooting it and just picked up a new Tikka. Should I run the Varget I already have or pick up some H4350 or H4831 for 100gr + bullets?

I don't have a 243 but I do have a 6.5 Creedmoor. H4350 is the go to powder for alot of people including myself

I think you would be better off with h4350 or h4831sc. Not a bad idea to try staball 6.5 as it can be had cheaper and I have heard great things about it

H4350 is the easy button for accuracy with every bullet I've tried in tikka 243 and 6.5cm. Haven't tried Varget in either.

As bullet weight goes up the case fill % goes down with Varget - Nosler doesnt show Varget with bullets above 80 gr or so.

I have a couple loads in both 243 (100 gr) and 6.5 CM (120 gr) that use H4895. They aren’t fast, but they are really tame and sure shoot well!

Otherwise my go-to powders with heavier bullets are imr-4350 for 243 and h4350 in 6.5. They are close enough in burn rate that you should be able to get decent results with either one in either cartridge. I got good speed in 243 with 4831, but could never get the accuracy I wanted out of it.

I have a 6mm Rem. Not a .243 but very close. IMR 7828ssc with Sierra 100 gr GameKings was the magic recipe for it.
