Vortex 2x doubler thoughts

Considered a 2x doubler for my 10x42 viper HD's, this is my main optic i use off hand and off a tripod. I won't be getting a spotter before next year, is the 2x worth it just to hang me over until next year?

Yes I knew this. My only perk if you will is I would use it only once I spotting game from far out and wanted to make out a little more detail. If it's not worth it I'll just save the 150$ and put it toward the spotter next spring

This is the best advice. The guys I know that have Swaro's and a doubler don't even use the douber because of the poor optical quality of the picture.

Yeah seems like a great idea on the surface, but even the guys I know with the Swaro doublers aren't happy with them
