Wall tent fire treatment.

Looking into buying a canvas wall tent. Does everyone that runs a stove get theirs fire treated or is the fire treatment more for state regulations?

state regs. If yours don't call for it, save your money. After the tent has been exposed to a lot of rain, and aired out good, the retardent don't work anyway.....

It REALLY stinks. I sold a tent just because it had the fire treatment. I couldn't stand to be anywhere near it, let alone sleep in it. It was overwhelming with chemical smells.

We look at the fire treatment as inexpensive insurance policy - you don't need it until you need it! The initial cost is higher, but over the life of the tent it is negligible.

The fire treatment will disallow the spread of an open flame, whereas a non-fire treated canvas can allow this flame to spread.

I will recommend it to folks using a stove and also to folks who have that accident prone individual in their hunting group - you know, "that guy". Every once in a while we will talk to customers who have incidents in their tents and the majority of the time it is caused from negligent activities and not from heat from the stove.

Having said that, we sell many tents without the fire treatment to individuals who are using stoves and other heating elements within their tents and they work out just fine.
