Water filtration

Hey guys, any of you using the sawyer inline 3 way filter? I am currently using a katadyn pocket. Quite heavy. Was thinking of going to a sawyer squeeze to fill my 3 liter platypus then putting the sawyer inline as a second source of filtration. Would shave major weight off my pack.

Hey Timber. Will lay out some posts for you here on the Saywer. We have many writes up on it. It is completely legit and you wont be disappointed. Just remember as with any Filter if it freezes then Filter is DOA. So make sure to put it in a airtight baggy so you can stick in your sleeping bag at night to keep it above freezing. I always make sure to get as much water out of the filter as I can to help keep it above temps.

I just put this setup together from items I had. Just had to purchase an extra hydration line and the adapters. I also have the quick connects so I can fill my bladder in the pack without removing it.

Parts list for below pics, not sure total cost:

MSR 10L
MSR hydration line with bite valve removed
Sawyer Squeeze filter
Sawyer inline adapters for squeeze filter

I was ableto filter 10L in 12 min. I'm happy with the results.

Used for the first time last weekend. It worked like a charm. Just dipped the bladder and drank away. I also disconnected my bite valve and filtered water for the guy I was hiking with. After seeing how well it worked he stated he would be purchasing one.

Is there any other benefit of using the squeeze filter over the 3-way other than the ability to attach it to a bottle?

Guess you just have to decide how versatile of a setup you would want. Your not limited with the squeeze per say as you are with the inline.
