WCG inc.... Corey James and his girlfriend Risa West helped accurize this stock weatheby 30-378 and hand loaded some great 180 barnes xlc fb bullets for it. This pic is taken at 4450 ft elev at 715 yards and 525. can only afford to shoot 3 shot groups as the ammo is 8 bucks a pop!!!

nice shooting but I'm with Ryan, $8 a shot is crazy! I reload my 300 Weatherby w/180TSX for less then $2 a round.

What type of speed are those 180's traveling at?

Todd....nothing special 3402-3411.

A 180 doing 3400ft/sec is pretty dang special. Any reason you went with the lighter weight bullet? I thought most guys used that cal. to push 200 and 220 grainers? What model of bee is your rifle?

Yes that is a big reason why people went to the 30-378 but every riffle is different as you know and this one did not do as well with the 200+ bullets. I could still get away with them at 4-500 for hunting purposes but i dont have the confidence past there with them so i stick with the 180's. Its a mark V Weatherby that was "accurized" by Corey James at WCG inc. I sent it to him because i could not get the thing to group better than 1.75 AT BEST at 100 yards.

What does his accurizing consist of? And what scope and rings do you have mounted on it?

I hang around a few Weatherby fanatics(nuts). Every time they get a new 30-378 or 338-378 I here them bitch about how finicky they are with heavy bullets. Must be something with the chamber/barrel combo??

One of the 30-378 was shot out at 700 rounds using 180 AB. He put a custom barrel on it and now shoots 230 Berger's just fine. For what you have to pay for higher end Weatherby's they should be less finicky:)

Had a 30-378 weatherby accumark and sold it. Just have a 340 weatherby now. Just didn't have the resources to reload and wasn't worth it. A .300 wsm would serve me fine for a 30 cal. But they sure are nice guns!!

Is that the old blue coated Barnes? I shot some of those in a 340 once. Didn't even know they still had them available, or maybe this guy has a huge stash of them.

Yes, have been discontinued for many years but they shoot the best out of the mark V accumark. Corey now has his own coatings he puts on them since the XLC are very hard to come by. If you know anyone with them laying around please pm and Ill buy them.

I think i have decided my next riffle will be a 340 weatherby built by WCG inc. Anyone have one of these and if so how do you like it?

My uncle has a 340. It shoots very well. But there's cheaper 338 to shoot if your not going to do the reloading.
