I have a flight on Saturday at 5:30 AM to Oregon. I'm pretty excited, since this will be my first ever blacktail hunt. Hoping this might become a habit.

Then, middle of Nov., its up to my club/camp in the NY Catskills for a month of stillhunting whitetails. I might take a side trip to either, my property in Cherryfield, Maine, or meet some buddies in the Allagash for 4-5 days.

Since Canada rescinded entry restrictions for the unvaxxed, I've been looking into a Newfoundland moose hunt for 2023 or 2024. But it's not looking good. All of the highly recommended camps that I've contacted, are all back booked now, due to covid, until 2025/6. So that sucks. Its been my life's dream, and 2026 would put me at 70 y/o.

I'm still giving Wyoming a rest, and building points, hoping the numbers and quality where I hunt bounce back in the next few years.

I will also be applying to NM for elk, Oryx and mule deer.

Good luck to all on your adventures this year.
Try Alberta.

It's -20F as we speak this morning. I try to do a bit of coyote hunting if the sow doesn't get too deep. A wolf shows up occasionally. It's a long time until spring when I put out baits for grizzly and black bears.

At 68 with a lot of hand and wrist and back problems I've learned to shoot long distance in the far Northern Texas Panhandle for my pronghorn, mule deer, and occasional elk. Land is flat, can see forever, enough irrigated ag land to feed the wildlife. So a 600-800 yard shot if it's not real windy then drive the truck or utv directly up to the animal to load it. I miss the beautiful scenery of you guys pics there's nothing that can replace it but I'm still hunting the only way my body allows me to!

Does 56 qualify? I'm heading in for a three day solo hunt in the mountains. Deer or elk with a bow. Or a grouse. I'm not picky.
At 56 go get 'em brother. And enjoy every dang minute. About 10 years from now you'll probably have to change your style somewhat. But until then make every hunt and keep us posted with pictures. Best of Luck!

Spent a week in Great Bear Wilderness, saw plenty of elk sign, but never saw elk. Saw plenty of mule deer does, but no bucks. Plenty of bears, both Grizzly and Blacks

Took a couple of bears.

Disappointed no elk for 2 years running…but had a great time in beautiful country.

Doing some Axis and whitetail hunting in Texas just before Christmas.
