Western Montana elevation?

Hey guys, I’m headed back to western Montana here on Sunday for 4-5 days to try and fill my tag on what would be my first spring bear. I’m a little confused on elevation - half of me feels like I should be down lower near the creeks, the other half wants to go to snow line and hunt from there. Any advice?
