Looking for a little help....was able to find some time to plan a last minute trip for the NE rifle season. I have a whitetail tag only for the Pine Ridge unit and was planning on hunting around Crawford NE. Any recommendations on what areas to focus on for higher whitetail numbers than mule deer? I am assuming some of the grassland areas with creek bottoms etc may be more likely to have whitetails than some of higher more rugged areas.
I am coming from Wisconsin where I am more accustomed to spending more time sitting still than moving around. I am not entirely sure what the deer numbers are in western NE but assuming I may have better chances by covering more ground and glassing etc??
