What are the chances?

I am in the preliminary stages of planning a camping/ hunting trip for my son and three of his friends for their senior trip. The other three dads will be going as well. I am looking at spring bear and maybe turkey in Montana or Idaho. We are all experienced eastern whitetail and turkey hunters but limited in experience western hunting. What are the realistic chances of being able take a diy public land bear by a bunch of southern rookies? I know we will 100% have an awesome trip regardless but I don’t want to give any of them unrealistic expectations at taking a bear.
