The left wing radicals and the right wing radicals and the agendas and the blah blah blah blah. We've never had a president anyone can agree on one side always hates the other. I think they need to put a dude that really loves big game hunting into office... HUNTING comes from all back grounds Democrat and Republican, independent, ECT what we can all agree on is freakin hunting is bad ass. And that's my stance on politics. It would solve everything except the anti hunters. But we'll just deport those fellers.
MY IDEA 2020! MAKE AMERICA HUNT AGAIN

40,000 people entered the us from China after the ban, those must be some big airplanes if they were only at 10% capacity. Probably another of your made up stats to fit your agenda, right?

You should pick cherries for a job.
40,000 people in two months is a whole lot better than the 381,000 people who flew from China in January. The 40,000 where Americans or people who held green cards. Should we have just forced them to live in China till coronavirus is over?
Even if the travel ban didn't block everyone, it still helped by a factor close to 20!
381,000÷(40,000÷2) = 19.05
One month vs two.

And if "the Dems screamed" so much I would be open to seeing some evidence of it, other than trump tweets.

Get your head out of the sand. EVERY CNN article I read since January was about how terrible Trump is and that he always chose the worst option. Many other news agencies took the same approach.

All I asked for was some proof that Dems were screaming Trump's ban was racist?

Should be easy for you to post a few links right?

Not necessarily specifically calling the ban racist, but they are all obviously anti-Trump.

And at this point that is the only stat that matters.

Amen. We might as well be freaking out about how many people are obese.
Approximately 300,000 people die every year in the US from obesity. (Yes, more than double the current Covid figure, but we do nearly 6 months of Covid to make a year, but it's not on track to catch up to obesity. )
If any of you masked, Trump-hater, news-swallower, anti-travelban, pro-shutdown folks want to argue, go for it.
But its easier to skip the soda, back off the beer, eat 1 instead of 2, leave the chocolate on the shelf, etc. than it is to stop an invisible, unstoppable (without a full, medical grade positive-pressure suit) virus with a mortality rate around .4% (take out the people with obesity and that bumps the mortality rate for us guys who care how fat we are down even lower.)
More simply stated, if you are fat, you are more likely to die because you are fat than from COVID-19. If you get COVID-19, you are more likely to die from COVID-19 because you are obese.
My point is that its stupid to try to stop something you cannot stop and will likely get sooner or later but you don't care how obese you or your family is even though obesity is more deadly and more easily stopped simply with self discipline.

Here's some links for ya.

The experts are arguing amongst themselves. I just need to know if the doily that my grandma knitted me to wear around my face is going to help or not. Or if I need to step it up to a handkerchief or my Darth Vader mask. Someone please God let me know.

The coronavirus is finding new victims worldwide, in bars and restaurants, offices, markets and casinos, giving rise to frightening clusters of infection that increasingly confirm what many scientists have been saying for months: The virus lingers in the air indoors, infecting those nearby.

If airborne transmission is a significant factor in the pandemic, especially in crowded spaces with poor ventilation, the consequences for containment will be significant. Masks may be needed indoors, even in socially distant settings. Health care workers may need N95 masks that filter out even the smallest respiratory droplets as they care for coronavirus patients.

If only politics allowed people to take steps to avoid both obesity and COVID. If only.....

Just got done with the biggest Fourth of July celebration in years. 940 contests in the three day rodeo. Tent dances every night and bars packed . If there is not a huge spike in our 12 cases something is fishy

I didn’t think whether or not Trump completely botched and fumbled this situation, was even a discussion anymore.

It is not a discussion on CNN. How convenient of them and others to exercise their liberal privilege and overlook all of the major miss-steps on the left. Here are just a few that a dumb arse like me has noticed:

->Fauci telling 60 Minutes that there is no reason for Americans to wear masks. Now he admits he was intentionally misleading the public. He even made the case that masks were dangerous. But hey, we can believe him today, honest.
-> In late Feb Fauci said that there is no reason for Americans to change any of their normal behaviors.
->NY Gov Blasio telling New Yorkers to go out on the town:
"Since I’m encouraging New Yorkers to go on with your lives + get out on the town despite Coronavirus, I thought I would offer some suggestions. Here’s the first: thru Thurs 3/5 go see “The Traitor” @FilmLinc. If “The Wire” was a true story + set in Italy, it would be this film."

— Bill de Blasio (@BilldeBlasio) March 3, 2020
That was a tweet that he sent out. Too bad Twitter didn't censor that one eh? Two weeks later he was pissing his pants and blaming Trump for NY's problems.

->NY Gov Cuomo mandating that elderly Covid patients be sent back into nursing homes. (More than half of the 30K deaths in NY took place in care homes.) Talk about liberal privilege with that dude. He has been the chosen one by the media while Gov Abbot is getting kicked in the nuts with 3,000 deaths in Texas. Maybe we should not have cancelled school so quickly, last time I checked 30,000 dead people were more than 3,000 dead people. 30,000 dead people > 3,000 dead people

-> Not done with Cuomo yet. In 2015 he was told that he did not have enough ventilators for a pandemic and was 16,000 short. Instead of making that purchase he had a task force create draft rules for rationing the ventilators they already had. He then spent $750 mill on a green project that went bust. Fast forward to 2020 and Trump saved his ass with ventilators. So much so that I am sick of hearing about it.

-> Pelosi telling Californians to make sure to go to China Town in San Fran to shop and support the folks there after Trump limited travel from China, because you know that was so racist. In fact she was there with a crowd and had a press conference. No masks or social distancing of course. But that was before she bent a knee....

-> The media and multiple govs and mayors supporting protests as well as riots because well, it was more important than Covid. (They said that.) Then a couple weeks after said protests, blaming the increase in cases on red states who opened up some 6 weeks earlier because everyone with any common sense knows that Covid avoids protests were there is no social distancing and people are yelling and screaming in close proximity. More liberal privilege.

-> The WHO screwing this up from the get go and the flip flopping on everything. Just a couple examples:
WHO stands by recommendation to not wear masks if you are not sick or not caring for someone who is sick- This was a CNN headline.
The WHO telling the world that Covid was not transferable from person to person.
The WHO accusing Trumps travel restrictions from China as racists and not necessary.

The Media's many headlines early on:
Vox: This Isn’t A Deadly Pandemic
Washington Post: Coronavirus Isn’t So Scary

Washington Post: The Flu Is Worse Than Coronavirus-hard to believe they used the F-word in a headline!
New York Times: Fear Spreads Faster Than Coronavirus
CNN: Racist Attacks Are More Threatening Than Coronavirus-
In response to limiting travel from China.

You CNN fanboys and Trump haters are so right. This is all Trump's fault. If only he had the military build extra hospitals, sent Navy medical ships to assist the west and east coast, somehow managed to convince manufacturers to retool and drop more ventilators in a few months than had ever been previously manufactured in years. If only he removed some of the red tape so that a vaccine and therapeutics could be created faster. If only he had been the first world leader to limit travel from China. I cannot believe that the left had this from the get go and that Trump completely dropped the ball. I need to get going now so I can watch the Cuomo brothers on CNN talk about their bro romance and how good of a job was done in NY with 30,000 people dead from Covid.

Joe Biden Tweet from Feb 1 reacting to news of Trump travel ban:

"We are in the midst of a crisis with the coronavirus. We need to lead the way with science — not Donald Trump’s record of hysteria, xenophobia, and fear-mongering. He is the worst possible person to lead our country through a global health emergency. "

Bernie Sanders during a March town hall:

Sanders also slammed President Trump's response to the coronavirus outbreak – and said that he would not consider closing the border, no matter what.

"If you had to, would you close down the borders?" Baier asked, referring to efforts to stop the spread of coronavirus.

"No," Sanders replied flatly.

He went on to condemn xenophobia and suggest that scientists would need to outline the appropriate approach.

Remdesivir seems to be working at a much better pace than all the other treatments that have been proposed. Our hospital is keeping more people out of ICU care at a much better rate than a month ago. Our cases seem to be increasing but the severity is definitely dropping.

Anecdotally, this can be attributed to several things:
1. Patients aren't waiting till they are critical to seek help
2. MD's are more knowledgeable about diagnosing and testing for COVID
3. Legitimate treatments are slowing disease progression

Just from what I'm seeing in my community and the the daily death numbers nationwide, I believe we are starting to get a better grasp of acute treatment options.

I believe Bernie was responding to trump wanting to close the Mexico border, not a Chinese travel ban, that's what I was specifically asking about.

I searched quite a bit trying to see where anyone was specifically calling a Chinese travel ban racist and couldn't find it.

I was searching to see who on this thread specifically called the China ban "racist" and didn't find it, but my apologies if I missed it.
