What powed binos

Going to buy binos in a few hours. What power to take elk hunting. 10x51 or 12x51. Looking at the brinton eternas on sale for $198.00

I take 8x42, in the area you are thinking it would be worth saving weight and going with a 32 or 42 bino. If you do not have a spotter I would say 42.

I don't have a spotter yet and my not be able to afford one by the time I go. I was leaning to the 12 but don't know. 25oz didn't seem too bad for binos.

I just ordered the 10x51 Brunton Eternas. Checked the weight and within an once of zeiss conquest 10x42. I sure hope I like them!

Problem is they may be over powered, lot of timber and a 12 would not be my first choice in timber.

I had some 8x32 binos and they didn't do it for me. I went with the 10x51's as a compromise. I will use them a lot around here hunting new planted pines we have :). I think you are right the 12x's are too much.
