I've had both. Angled all the way. When following game up or down a mountain you don't have to adjust the tripod as often. Move your neck instead of tripod.
When in a truck you have more adjustment options to look forward or behind you.
Much less fatigue on neck.
When you learn how to use it you can find game just as fast as the straight.
Lower to the ground on tripod.
All great reasons. Fatrascal

What about the Kowa 554 vs 553 since the 553 doesn't rotate. Would you go with the straight between these two?
Even without the rotation, I chose the 553. It's freaky good, but probably not as versatile as it would be with the capability to rotate. That would probably be my only complaint.
For what it's worth I've got a pistol grip head that I can use to rotate the scope by 90 degrees. There is a little messing around, and it isn't as good as if the scope could just rotate, but it does work. Something to think about.
Also, at low power, I can hand hold it or rest it on something. Then I can rotate it however I want.

I use an angled. At times I wish I had a straight just for speed of target acquisition. But as others have said, there's pro's / con's to each. I feel like the angled gives me more options on what position i can be in.
