Hey folks, what trpods are you using for your backcountry hunts. I am using a Vanguard ESPOD 203AP. It weighs 3lbs. Seems a little heavy. I was wondering if there was anything lighter that didn't cost an arm and a leg? I am using a small Minox MD50 scope.

Thanks

I just picked up a Benro A100EXU and am impressed with it. I t is all aluminum, very compact, 1.9 lbs and a steal at $66.

I pack the Outdoorsman medium with pan head. Right at 2 1/2 pounds and super solid. But it costs both arms and both legs. The Outdoorsman is very proud of their products.

Pretty hard to beat the Medium outdoorsman, with the Pan head. The Pan head is the only way to go for griding a hillside effeciently! Plus they make a whole lot of acesories for there tripods to attach just about anything to them!

I just picked up a Slik Sprint Pro II - its just under 2lbs, right at 18" compacted and extends up high enough to stand behind. So far so good and at $86 shipped it seemed pretty fair. I was going to go with the Mini but for just a bit more weight it extends to standing height. Did great with my Leupold 15-30 x 50mm GR and does pretty good with my Swaro 65mm but I will probably upgrade the head to support a bit more weight of the Swaro.

Velbon Ultra Maxi M I did a review on a few months ago is still running strong. Though I did upgrade to swap the fluid head off of my heavier tripod setup I have used for years onto the Velbon to better accommodate the heavier 85mm Zeiss spotter.

My buddy just bought the slick sprint mini seems to be compact and light but doesn't have the pan handle head which I would prefer to have.
