What's this kifaru tri glide for?

I've always wondered what the tri glide below the sternum strap on the shoulder strap is for. Any ideas?

Don't know if it's right but I weaved the top part of my gun bearer through it.

Both of the above. The gun bearer is probably it's primary function. I bent mine so I had to move to the universal gun bearer.
