140 gr Accubonds serve me well. Of the past dozen big game.animals shot with my .280s, only one did not expire where it was standing... and it went about 20 yards.
This season, I killed: pronghorns- buck at 621, a doe at 454, a doe at 379, a muley buck at 341 and a large whitetail buck at 20 yrds.
I am really pleased with accubonds. Doesn't hurt they shoot tiny groups out of my rifles either.

Muley at 351 yds. Whitetail at 20 yrds.

My buddy has a mountain ascent that eats 140 grain accubonds and spits them out sub moa all day.

I'm using the same powder. I may just order a sample pack and try it. How much jump do you have on the 280ai load?
.030" in a custom proof and .010" in a T/C Encore (both 280AI's). With the Hammer's in multiple cartridges I have loaded close to .030" or so off the lands but so they fit in the magazine and then work up the powder charges. I haven't had to change the seat depth in any, and only had to try a second powder in 1. They shoot as good or better than the best "other" bullet i have tried in all the rifles I have shot them in. All with very few development loads. You can use Nosler starting load data for the 140 grain and work up.

I am trying to stay at mag length but my mag length is .085 short.

I don't think you will have any trouble getting them to shoot, but the best thing to do is contact Hammer @ 406-261-0010 [email protected] . The first time I called a few years ago Steve the owner answered the phone and talked to me for 30 min. Really a good guy to deal with. Now I just email him with questions.

The 145 lrx over RL-17 is what my kimber .280AI likes. Showed promise with the 168 berger hunter classic but I wanted to shoot 140s mono bullets so that is the path I went down.

I’m a 140gr Accubond fan as well. Have had a Nosler Custom shop M48 .280ai for the last 6 years and have been impressed with the performance. I’ve killed a bear, antelope, Muleys and 3 elk with this combo and have a hard time trying to talk myself into using/trying anything else.

My Bergara Premier in 280AI likes the 139LRX and RL26. The 145LRX did well but not as accurate as the 139 and it unfortunately didn’t like the 140 Accubonds at all, factory or handloads. Just picked up a Mountain Ascent and the same 139LRX load was much too hot for this rifle and accuracy wasn’t to my liking. But factory 140 Accubonds did fairly well with a .710 inch group at 3080FPS. Haven’t had time to get into any depth with handloads in this rifle.

I'm shooting 143 Hammers in mine using 7828SSC...I think I settled on 3030fps and I know I could squeeze more but had great consistency (.68MOA with single digit ES). Killed 1 antelope 2 whitetails. All dropped in place. The furthest was 326 yards and the bullet did exactly as designed. If you can get RL26 that is the go to for this cartridge and you should be able to safely get to 3100+. H4831 will probably outperform 7828SSC. I'm going to test 7977 as soon as I can get my fingers on a pound.
