Need some advice.
I have a 25-06 that I'm using for deer and antelope this year. I also have a .300 Win Mag. I'm considering a 270 WSM as an intermediate gun between the two. I hunt the western United States and shots tend to be long at times. Long for me is out to 500 Yards.
The max distance I will use the 25-06 on antelope is 350 Yards. I'd like to move the 25-06 in to the predator catagory and use it for coyotes mostly as I can't get a bullet heavier than 87 Grains to stabilize in that rifle but for this year it's what I got so it's what I'll use. The .300 Win Mag is more than I care to shoot most days. I think the .270 Winchester needs some help, and the WSM certainly does that. I'm also not fond of the 30-06 and it's "rainbow" trajectory although I do like that it uses heavier bullets. My other option is a 7mm WSM but I'm thinking it's too close to the .300 for filling the gap.
What say you all?

.270 WSM for sure. Even though I usually use my .300 win. mag. but I hate the recoil of it.

I had a Tikka T3 in 270WSM and it was kitten to shoot with a bolt on limbsaver pad. I ended up selling it off and moved to a 280AI which would be another decent option in the middle ground between the 25-06 and 300.

Thanks.
I'm leaning towards a .308 after some more research because it would simplify things as far as buying bullets for reloading goes.
I'm still thinking a WSM may be just the ticket however and may look at a 270 WSM again although it would create some serious overlap of cartridges.

If you didn't like the .30-06's "rainbow" trajectory, you're not going to be impressed with a .308

I love my 7mm wsm. Good meds for anything but a big brown bear. 160gr AB , 162sst , 168 berger , 175 partition ect. Short action for lighter weight. Get one and your 300 will soon need a new home.

Also forgot the 140 BT and the 139 sst for lopes , and still have better bc's than the 130gr 270 bullets. Kill lopes to moose with a 7mm wsm.
