I've seen eye shields on a lot of binoculars. Many Steiner bins come with them. I'm also always fiddling with my eyepiece covers in the field because I prefer to use a paracord harness and just eyepiece covers rather than a heavy and bulky bino pack.
Why isn't there a combination eye shield/cover that flips up for eyeshields and down to cover the eyepieces? Seems like it would be simple enough to make. Even a neoprene cover with a magnet or velcro would work, or rubber that is designed to hold its up and down positions.
I know Brunton had some flip up (like Butler Ck. rifle scope covers) eyepiece covers at one time, but they didn't serve very well as shields.
Just thinking out loud here for anyone handy enough who wants to market a product...
The birding community would go nuts over these as well.
