I am looking for a left handed (or ambidextrous) shotgun for my son, with a preference of a .410 or 28 gauge but would definitely take a 20 gauge into consideration.

Thanks,
Scotty

I’d love to be able to find something as an X-mas gift. Please.

How about a 28ga double barrel? I bought it new and shot maybe 20 shots thru it. Has 5 choke tubes with it. Color cased receiver and nice blue everywhere else. I bought a hi grade 20ga double I use now. PM if interested.

Find an older Browning BPS w/nice wood. Lots out there and never lose $ if bought rite.

Take a look at the Ithaca Model 37 in 28 Gauge. I am a lefty and the M37 is bottom feed, bottom eject; perfect for a lefty.

These guns are made at the Sandusky, OH plant, and are the best M37s ever manufactured IMHO. I own two M37s (both 12 gauge). This gun will last him a lifetime.

Thank you for the lead. Now trying to find one is the tricky part.

I have the same problem for my son.
if you want a pump you might find a Remington left hand 870 but they are Very rare.
We ended up with a model 37 16 gauge. With the ejection out the bottom it worked out well.

Don’t forget about the Browning BPS shotguns too. Those eject out the bottom as well. Additionally they have the ambidextrous tang safety which is great for lefties. The BPS shotguns are a little on the heavy side, but one in 28 gauge will likely be lighter.

It appears that all of the vendors are out of stock of the BPS.

Anyone have a 410 for lefties or ambidextrous for sale?

410's are not a great option for kids. I have a Tristar o/u in 28 Ga. that is a great hunting gun. Gallery of guns has them instock under $700.
I also have the Browning BPS in 28 ga but it is very heavy for a smaller shooter

I'm thinking an over under is the best option for a beginning left hand shooter. My grandson shoots left handed and has been shooting my 28ga over under He now is shooting my 20 ga. because it's a bigger gun so he thinks its more powerful. He hasn't figured out that it's only an 1/8 oz few pellets but who cares as long as he keep shooting.. I have a great 28ga available.

Axlrod,

I do not share your experience and opinion about 410 for jr hunters. Thank you nonetheless for sharing.

Only thing I'm finding is the aforementioned Ithaca Model 37 in 28 gauge and the Browning BPS Field in 28 gauge. I would contact them directly and see when they will be available.

I am looking for a BPS with a 24” barrel. The only one I can find is on gunbroker for $900. I’m not quite ready to pay that yet.
