I drew a tag for antelope this year and killed a buck. So am I not able to get a preference point during the preference point buying time now?

Notwithstanding the fact that preference point buying period ended on 11/01, your understanding is correct If your buck tag was drawn for your first choice. You won‘t be able to purchase another point until after next year’s draw...
